Deborah Miller

Deborah Miller (previously known as Deborah Bonness) has worked for 30 years as an Art teacher in the public school system. Her experience included Southwest Parke Community School Corporation, South Vermillion School Corporation (from which she retired), and Anderson Community School Corporation (a post retirement fill-in position). She has taught at high school, middle school, and grade school levels (her longest time spent teaching grade school art). She has a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Anderson University (with additional work at I.S.U) and a master’s degree from I.S.U. in Art Education. Miller had been a member of the Wabash Valley Art Guild for many years, and has been featured as the Artist of the Month there. During that time she served as Vice-President of the guild for several years and took part in many of their exhibits- taking ribbons in several of the shows including the Guild shows at Rose Hulman, the annual show at Meadows Shopping Center, and at the annual Community Theater in Terre Haute. She has also been a part of the Pendleton Artist’s Society, exhibiting at their Gallery 119, and selling at an art fair in Pendleton. She has also taught classes at Gallery 119 and exhibited with the Artist’s Society of Madison County.

Miller enjoys working in several mediums, including graphite, watercolor, acrylic, and pastel. She enjoys working with flowers, people, and outdoors as subjects. She has studied with Joe Fettinga and Peter Bruning. She has done many commissioned pieces for businesses and individuals. She also has done mural work, including a Union Hospital wall, at the Saratoga restaurant in Terre Haute, and at schools and festivals in Vermillion County. She is currently working on a mural in Dunkirk, Indiana. Deborah Miller has a passion for art and loves sharing that with people of all ages.
